The Run for Wildlife NIGHT 5k

ITS BACK!!!!!

It was initially due to be a one off event, but we had such an amazing time and it was soooo popular, that we've been kindly allowed back to the park for more night time running adventures!

Entries aren't yet open but please join the waiting list (in 2025 it filled in 20 minutes!)

Date: 4th January 2026

Time: 17:00

Venue: The Yorkshire Wildlife Park - Doncaster

Capacity: 750

Distance: 5km

Price: £23.50-25.50  (includes entry into the illuminations after your run!)

Virtual price: £13.50 (includes the same amazing medal, you can also add in a t-shirt)

Thank you to everyone that joined us in 2025 for a very very special night edition of the National multi-award winning 5k walk, jog, run safari... AND WHAT A NIGHT!

A very special event taking all of the incredible illuminations around the fantastic Yorkshire Wildlife Park :)

Just like our Autumn 5k event but with a route to take in the fantastic illuminations and maybe spot (or hear!) some of our night time animal friends!

With a start in the grounds of the park and a finish up in the hive!

The event is timed and licensed as per normal 5k and we've got amazing snacks and medals at the finish for you!

And as always we've got a special focus 'NIGHT' animal to inspire all our medals and t-shirts!

We also encourage all runners to 'NEON' up for the event, but please no torches, the course is subtly lit so you can keep safe and enjoy the illuminations without disturbing the animals with torch light.  The route sticks to the main paths so it's a great surface.

To help make sure everyone has the run they want to run then we're setting everyone off in mini-waves,  we capture your predicted run time and then we set you off in order of your time ... so the fastest predicted runners goes off first, and don't worry it's chip timed so you time only starts once you pass the finish line!

It's a great way to kick start your January!  .... WE'RE ALSO LOOKING FOR AN ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS to help with this unique event, with glow sticks and lights to help support the runners! - join our Facebook volunteer page here

Walk, Jog and Run alongside some amazing animals and illuminations!

Once you've done your run, we've got a fantastic medal for you and cake!

You're then free to enjoy the evenings illuminations at a steadier pace! (included in your entry ticket :) )

You can also add in spectator illumination passes so your friends and family can join you in the park after the run. ps: due to the unique nature of the event and the dark course spectators will not be able to watch you start / finish the run as this takes place within the park.

2025 Animal stars!

Every one of our Run for Wildlife events has a unique animal theme to help raise awareness. It also provide us with our design ideas for the medal and optional t-shirt (profits go to the foundation).

The incredible Spotted Hyenas...were our first ever Night Time 5k featured animals!

The spotted hyena hunts and scavenges by night and is closely connected in African folklore with the supernatural world!

So maybe you'll get a little shout out from the Spotted Hyenas as you journey past them!

Spotted Hyena are extremely intelligent and social animals, often living in large groups known as a clans.

Their call sounds a lot like laughter – they do this when they are excited but nervous, when submitting to another hyena or when alerting others about food. Their ‘laugh’ is one of about 12 different vocalisations and their call can be heard from over 5 km away.

2026 ANIMAL STAR TO BE CONFIRMED
